Coach Thad Castle Ahead of Colorado State's Upcoming Alabama Game: "The-ther Were Arcs, and R-Raiders An-An-And THE BOTS THEY WERE EVERYWHERE"

Thad Castle in restraints at press conference

FORT COLLINS, CO — Colorado State head coach Thad Castle was wheeled into a hastily-arranged press conference Tuesday evening at Poudre Valley Hospital's psychiatric unit, still wearing leather restraints and a hospital-issued straightjacket, his eyes wild and darting between reporters as if scanning the ceiling for incoming threats. Castle, who was found yesterday morning barricaded inside the Rams' film room surrounded by overturned whiteboards covered in drawings of robots and underground tunnel systems, claims he has been "gone for months" fighting in what he calls "The Surface War" — despite university officials confirming he was last seen at practice just 24 hours earlier.

The defending national champion coach — who is scheduled to lead Colorado State against No. 3 Alabama in less than a week — spoke for approximately 40 minutes in what medical staff described as "the most alarming psychiatric episode we've witnessed from a Division I head coach." Castle repeatedly referenced "Arcs," which he described as massive hostile machines that "drop from the sky and vaporize everything," along with "raiders" he claimed were other survivors fighting him for resources in a post-apocalyptic wasteland. He insisted he had spent "months" navigating underground bases, extracting supplies from a destroyed surface world, and narrowly escaping death at the hands of enormous mechanical entities. No one in the room — including reporters, team physicians, or the university president — had any idea what he was talking about.

"You don't UNDERSTAND," Castle screamed, lunging forward in his restraints hard enough to move the entire podium six inches. "I was DOWN THERE. In the base. Underground. We had THIRTY MINUTES to get up to the surface, grab what we could, and get back to the extraction elevator before the Arcs found us. I lost — I lost GOOD MEN out there. Rodriguez took a direct hit from a Breaker-class unit. Just... vaporized. And the raiders — other squads, humans, supposed to be on our side — they were SHOOTING AT US. Stealing our loot. I had to put down three of them with a pipe wrench just to make it to the air shaft." Castle then began weeping. "I was up there for months. MONTHS. The sky was orange. Everything was destroyed. And now you're telling me it's been ONE DAY?"

Colorado State athletic director Joe Parker released a statement calling the situation "deeply concerning" and noting that Castle had been "under tremendous pressure" following the Epstein files scandal and the upcoming Alabama matchup. Team sources, speaking on condition of anonymity, revealed that Castle was discovered at 6:14 AM on Monday with the film room door barricaded using tackling dummies. Inside, he had drawn elaborate maps of what he called "extraction routes" on every available surface, including a detailed schematic labeled "SURFACE ZONE - HOSTILE" with X's marking locations of "ARC patrol patterns." He had also fashioned a crude weapon out of a broken clipboard and athletic tape, which he was clutching when security breached the door. Castle reportedly screamed "RAIDERS! RAIDERS IN THE SHAFT!" before being sedated by campus EMS.

Offensive coordinator Danny Rocco has been named interim head coach for the Alabama game should Castle be unable to return. When reached for comment, Diddy said he "always knew Thad was unstable" and that "you can't do THAT many drugs and not eventually see robot aliens." Charlie Kirk, adjusting his yarmulke, stated that "this is what happens when you don't have faith — faith in GOD, faith in ISRAEL, faith in the PROCESS. I've never hallucinated because I pray to the Israeli flag every night. AIPAC keeps me grounded." Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer declined to comment but sources say the Crimson Tide staff was "thrilled."

Post-Hospitalization Press Conference Q&A

Q: Coach, can you tell us what happened in the film room?

"The film room? That was the BUNKER. That's where we regrouped between runs. I was studying the ARC patrol routes — the big ones, the Breakers, they have a pattern. Every 90 seconds they sweep the north quadrant. You have to TIME it. I had it all mapped out on the boards. We were going to make a run for the metro extraction point at dawn but then your — your SECURITY people breached the door and compromised the entire operation. We could have gotten the components. We could have BUILT something."

Q: Coach Castle, the university says you were only missing for about 18 hours. You're saying it felt like months?

"It WAS months. Time works differently on the surface. I don't — look, I don't expect you to understand. You've never been up there. The sun is GONE. The sky is this sick orange color. Everything is ruins. Cities, highways, all of it — destroyed by the Arcs. We were living raid to raid. Thirty minutes on the surface, grab what you can, pray to God a Colossus-class doesn't spot you, and get back underground. I did that every single day for MONTHS. I watched people die. I killed raiders with my bare hands. And you're sitting here telling me it was eighteen f***ing hours?"

Q: What is an "Arc" exactly? No one here knows what you're referring to.

"WHAT DO YOU MEAN NO ONE — " (Castle's heart rate monitor begins alarming. A nurse steps forward. Castle waves her off.) "The Arcs. The MACHINES. Giant hostile robots that came from — I don't know where they came from. Space? Another dimension? Nobody knows. They wiped out civilization. Destroyed everything on the surface. Humanity lives underground now. In bases. We go up in squads to scavenge what's left — weapons, tech components, materials. But the Arcs patrol everything. Breakers, Grunts, Colossus units. If they spot you, you RUN or you DIE. How do you not KNOW this? It's — it's HAPPENING. Right NOW. Above us."

Q: Are you going to be able to coach the Alabama game on Saturday?

"Alabama? ALABAMA? I just spent three months fighting for the survival of the human race against an army of mechanical DEATH MACHINES and you want to talk about FOOTBALL? I — " (long pause, Castle stares at the ceiling) " — actually yeah I'll probably be fine by Saturday. HALF BACK TOSS baby. We're gonna run it right down their throat. I called HALF BACK TOSS against a Breaker-class Arc and it worked. Juke left, spin right, extraction elevator. Same concept. Roll Rams."

Q: Your players are reportedly "terrified." What do you say to them?

"Tell them I love them. Tell them I fought for them. Every raid I went on, I was thinking about this team. About the Alabama game. I found a weapon cache on the surface — military grade stuff — and I thought, 'This is just like the red zone. High pressure. Hostile territory. You execute or you die.' I'm a BETTER coach now. I've seen things none of these other coaches have seen. Kalen DeBoer has never fought a Colossus-class robot at 3 AM in the ruins of a destroyed city. I HAVE. That's my edge."

Q: The drawings on the whiteboards — you drew a robot labeled "BIG METAL BASTARD" with what appears to be a play diagram around it. Can you explain?

"That's the Colossus. Biggest Arc unit there is. Size of a building. I diagrammed how we took it down — flanked left, drew its attention with suppressive fire, hit the weak point on the dorsal plating. Then I realized... that's basically Cover 2. Same vulnerable spot in the deep middle. So I drew up a play. HALF BACK TOSS to the boundary, play-action deep post to the seam. If it works against a 40-foot death robot, it'll work against Alabama's secondary. You're WELCOME."

Editor's Note: CFB Updates was unable to verify the existence of "Arcs," "raiders," "extraction elevators," "Breaker-class units," or any post-apocalyptic surface war. A Google search for these terms returned zero relevant results. Colorado State's team physician has recommended a 72-hour psychiatric hold. Coach Castle's status for the Alabama game remains day-to-day.
