The Georgia Bulldogs opened their season with a 43-28 victory over Charlotte, but the 28 points allowed to a Group of Five opponent has Kirby Smart's attention. The defense, typically the strength of UGA football, looked uncharacteristically soft at times.

The offense did its job, putting up 43 points and moving the ball efficiently. But giving up 28 to Biff Poggi's 49ers is not the standard Georgia fans expect from this program.

Kirby Smart will undoubtedly have this defense watching film all week. The Bulldogs have national championship aspirations, and performances like this won't cut it against SEC competition.

For Charlotte, keeping it relatively competitive against Georgia is a moral victory of sorts. Poggi's program is building, and they showed they can move the ball against elite competition.
